Steam Train. 1979

Vintage Video treasure of a 1979 trip from Layerthorpe to Dunnington. YouTube by coltoncat44. The line was by then struggling financially having been profitable in many of the years since its opening in 1913. (Name changed 23 March 1973. The word"Light" had been dropped.)

The accompanying picture, coutesy of York Press, is of the opening ceremony in 1913. A larger version of the picture is on the page "Historic Times on DVLR."

DVLR Santa Specials 2010. A YouTube video by nikonmachine.

The Derwent Valley Light Railway managed to run the Santa Specials throughout December 2010 with the extra heavy snow and record low temperatures of around minus 12.
