Recent Matters. A Quick Summary. The York Steam Rally 2018 A steam extravaganza, held at Murton Park, organised by DVLR Society. Super Summer (August) Bank Holiday Weekend included: Vikings in residence in the Viking Village. The Trailblazers enacting Wild West gunfights contrasting Hollywood versions with reality and a Wild West gunsmith to show the guns of the Wild West and how they were used. A demonstration by a blacksmith.  17th June 2018. DVLR Father’s Day Event. Once again we were honored by the presence of the York Normandy Veterans.  20th July 2018. Annual Running Evening. Yet another successful enjoyable Annual Running Evening. Trains hauled by various loco combos. For a flavour of the evening, see video clips joined into a 7 mins. video. 5th June 2018. Rowntree’s No.3 (Ken Cooke) back in the news. The story of No.3 continues to make the news; this time with BBC Radio York.  Tony and Glynnis Frith on That’s York TV, 11th April 2018. Tony and Glynnis talk about their Rowntree’s No.3 diesel, proudly serving at DVLR. Hear how they had saved it from an ignominious end and brought it back to York to lovingly restore it and run it on its (almost) home rail. Fabulous Family Fun Day, Sunday 25th March. A host of activities made this an enjoyable day with the weather you’d order if you could. Fitness to run: all locos and rolling stock pass.   21st Jan 2018. Ken Smith at Murton Swapmeet. This was a well attended series of events. Volunteers across Murton Park worked tirelessly to bring enjoyment to families who came to set their Christmas into motion. Events which took place before the close of Summer Season 2017:   Restored Rowntrees No. 3 relaunched in its original Rowntree & Co. Ltd. livery. Murton Park Station, Sunday 24th Sept. 1 pm. The owners of Rowntree’s No.3, Glynnis and Tony Frith, had repainted the loco and had had the writing renewed. Rowntree’s No.3 locomotive was relaunched here, with a sense of history and pride. It was a nostalgic event for ex-Rowntree’s workers to see the locomotive returned to its original Rowntree & Co. Ltd livery. The departure of Andrew Barclay No. 8 from DVLR. A sad goodbye with best wishes for the future. Another Ruston  & Hornsby DS88 running. On Monday 28th August, the second day of the Quarter Centenary Events, a restored Ruston & Hornsby DS88, sporting its freshly painted livery, was able to take to the tracks and be (re)named in a  ceremony at 1 pm. Sunday 27th.Aug. Pump-action trolley unveiled. On the First day of 25th Anniversary Events, a restored plate-layers’ pump-action trolley  was unveiled here, to be viewed by the public for the very first time since its restoration.
