Celebrating the 25th Anniversary of DVLR.
The Rt. Hon. the Lord Mayor of York, Councillor Barbara Boyce accompanied by the Lady Mayoress, Mrs. Valerie Clark, unveils the memorial plaque. On 25th March 2018, Derwent Valley Light Railway celebrated 25 years since the first public passengers  were carried on the heritage line. 25 years ago, it had taken the dedication and hard work of volunteers to prepare the track to make the start up possible. Some locomotives and rolling stock had had to be moved from Starbeck. The DVLR continues to be run through the work of volunteers and it is thanks to them that the 25th Anniversary event, like everything else here, was as the Lord Mayor points out, done by volunteers for the love of the railway. The fanfare, before the unveiling, was provided by a section of the Corpus Christ High School Band from Leeds. The band played elsewhere in the grounds during the rest of the day playing some very enjoyable music for everyone’s entertainment.
